CLD COURSE CONTENT 2019

What is the Continuous Leo Development Education Program?

The CLD Education Program is available in three parts.
Part 1: LEO ORIENTATION
A Leo is given the syllabus on this topic.

Leo members need to attend a District ‘Leo Member Orientation’ conducted by a CLD Speaker. The presentation will be 45 minutes.

The Leos must recite the Leo Pledge correctly.
A work sheet will then be given. Leos will answer the questions. Speakers will discuss the answers.
The Leos will be registered and given a registration number by the CLD Board so they can proceed further in the CLD program.

Part 2: L.E.O Course

The L.E.O course covers the three Lions International designated values: Education on Leadership, Education on Experience (Skills for Adolescence) and Education on Opportunity (Skills for Action)

Leo members who have passed the ‘Leo Orientation’ and have been registered with the CLD Board, can attend a ‘L.E.O’ Course : - LEO Workshop  & LEO Assessment conducted by a CLD Speaker.

The L.E.O workshop includes: presentation on Leadership, experience, opportunity topics, group discussion, problem solving activities, public speaking.

Duration: 2 hours.

 An L.E.O. worksheet will be given covering 60% Leadership topics , 20% Experience, 20% Opportunity. Leos will answer the questions. Speakers will discuss the answers.

Duration 45 minutes.


Part 3: Service Proficiency

Five service badges are available:  Children, Community / Hunger Relief, Environment, Health, Vision.

Each service area consists of reports and service points.
Each service area completed will entitle a Leo to obtain a badge.


To qualify for a Service Proficiency Award, a Leo has to obtain a ‘LEO Proficiency’ Award and has completed all service areas in  Part 3.

           -An Official Activity of Lions Clubs International that encourages young men and women                      between ages of 12 to 30 to serve others in their community and around the world.

PART 3 Service Proficiency

Five Service Badges are available

1        Children
Leos service projects and activities for under-served children to make a difference in their lives.

Childhood cancer, care for the sick, aged, children and handicapped, Reading Action Campaign, Spotlight on Children.

2        Community / Hunger Relief
Assess community needs and organize community service projects, as well as service activities on the civic, cultural, social and moral welfare of the community.

3        Environment
Participate in environmental projects to learn the importance of preserving and protecting the environment. Become an environmentally –conscious Leos.
         
Useful topics: -Importance of Clean Environment, Environmental Problems, Measures to Improve Our Environment, Project and Activities to Care for Environment, Tree Planting, Recycling event, Environment contest.

4        Health
Leos service projects that have an impact on health. Participate in community health programs and activities.

Diabetes Awareness, Health Talk, Diet & Nutrition, Common Diseases, Immunization, Common Health problems & awareness, Prevention & Precautions,   Heart Disease.

5        Vision
Empowering Leos on healthy vision preservation. Identify people with sight problems and address the issues before they become serious.
